In the account of Noah's Ark, found in Genesis 5-10, God gives Noah a sign; a rainbow, His covenant to all men that he would never again flood the entire earth. The word covenant is used in scripture over 270 times, the word promise is used over 100 times. When we are in the midst of a trial in our lives, sometimes it is the hardest time to recall the promises of God; however, this is the time when it is most important to remember what God has promised to us, especially if you are His child.

Something I have found to be a huge blessing to me, is really studying the message of hymns or biblicaly inspired songs that we sing, or hear on the radio on a daily/weekly basis. It is my hope to use this blog as a way of sharing the lyrics to songs that have been a blessing to me, and how they have blessed me and reminded me of a promise given by God, and in turn be a blessing to others.

Prayer Request!!!

Just thought I'd post a quick update, and prayer request. There have been some minor complications in the process of getting my Visa for my stay in Japan. Please pray that the Japanese government will accept the conditions that have been presented. Satan is definitely trying to keep me home, and he doesn't want additional Christians over there right now!! Pray for me also, that I will just wait patiently and not borrow trouble and worry about all the details!! It reminds me of the verse Psa 46:10  'Be still, and know that I am God...' I also have a favorite song that talks about the same basic though:

Still my soul be still
And do not fear
Though winds of change may rage tomorrow
God is at your side
No longer dread
The fires of unexpected sorrow

God You are my God
And I will trust in You and not be shaken
Lord of peace renew
A steadfast spirit within me
To rest in You alone

Still, my soul be still
Do not be moved
By lesser lights and fleeting shadows
Hold onto His ways
With shield of faith
Against temptations flaming arrows

Still, my soul be still
Do not forsake
The Truth you learned in the beginning
Wait upon the Lord
And hope will rise As stars appear when day is dimming

Thank you all for your prayers!!! I also found out that Teshio (the town where I will be going) is about 500 mi. from the location of the Nuclear Plant that is causing the radiation problems!!!

Love you you all from NIU, where spring is just around the corner!!!

  1. Jenn, I love the words to that song! And the Scripture is perfect too! I will be praying. God may be delaying things for your safety due to the nuclear plant! And yes, satan too wishes to keep others from hearing the Word of God. Remember that God at times even told Paul to wait! So leave in in The LORD's hands, as you say you are doing, and you will see that He has a plan. His ways are higher and His thoughts are higher than our ways, and His ways are PERFECT.
I am praying, and sending love your way!

  2. It's funny that you would say that about His way's being higher than our ways!!! I had not even thought of that, even though last week with my plans all being changed I was definitely meditating on that verse. Were you aware that in my last post I mentioned that Scripture verse?

  3. What is the status of your going, in regards to the biggest nuclear disaster since Chornobyl? You're too young to remember, but in the mid-1980s they had to permanently evacuate the booming city of Pripyat in the Ukraine because of the explosion at the nearby nuclear reactor. 50,000 people lived there, but now it's a ghost town. It's a similar situation in Japan. If you end up going in spite of the nuclear disaster, I will be praying for you. Japan is not a safe place, but it is if you are in God's will.

  4. I am still going, in spite of the recent disaster. The most recent news I have heard is that the U.S. is recommending to stay 50+ mi. away from the nuclear plant. As I stated, Teshio, Hokkaido is 500 mi. away. I just learned that I will be making 2 trips to other islands in the area, besides my presence on Honshu (Tokyo's island) & Hokkaido.
