Yes, yesterday marked my one year anniversary with this blog. Things have changed since I started it, but as I think back to last year, a lot of things changed in my life too. I think of the verses in Jeremiah, For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end. Then shall ye call upon me, and ye shall go and pray unto me, and I will hearken unto you. And ye shall seek me, and find me, when ye shall search for me with all your heart.
(Jer 29:11-13) God knew exactly what he was doing when he sent me to Japan, he knew exactly what he was doing when he sent me back home from Japan, he knew exactly what he was doing when he allowed changes to happen at Northland, and knew that I would make the decision to not remain there. Maybe all along, God was trying to show me that I was not trusting him as much as I should have been. I knocked and another door was opened, and I found what I had been searching for with all my heart. It took trials to cause me to search with such diligence, but God know what the results would be from the beginning!! :D
In the account of Noah's Ark, found in Genesis 5-10, God gives Noah a sign; a rainbow, His covenant to all men that he would never again flood the entire earth. The word covenant is used in scripture over 270 times, the word promise is used over 100 times. When we are in the midst of a trial in our lives, sometimes it is the hardest time to recall the promises of God; however, this is the time when it is most important to remember what God has promised to us, especially if you are His child.
Something I have found to be a huge blessing to me, is really studying the message of hymns or biblicaly inspired songs that we sing, or hear on the radio on a daily/weekly basis. It is my hope to use this blog as a way of sharing the lyrics to songs that have been a blessing to me, and how they have blessed me and reminded me of a promise given by God, and in turn be a blessing to others.

'...knock, and it shall be opened unto you:' Mt. 7:7
I was just telling my mom how unbelievable it seems all that has happened in the last week and a day!! The last few weeks have been getting discouraging, because I had been at Northland for a year and a half only to have God lead me in a different direction. However, I hadn't been shown the direction yet...I was beginning to feel that I was being sent on a wild goose chase, and maybe God was just entertaining himself with my running around, getting frustrated, tempted to just quit, etc. (even though I knew it wasn't true). About the time I was ready to just give up, a friend of mine suggested that I look into a local Tech. school, and see what I could do to at least get started, then go on to a bigger college to get a degree. I look back, and it is as if God opened a window of opportunity to me, and showed me the door to get to where he wanted me to be. I took the opportunity, made an appointment to talk to an admissions rep. to get more information about the program I was looking at (as an administrative professional), and I ended up with a plethora of information, that almost seemed to good to be true. I, now one week later, have been accepted as a student at IntelliTec Colleges Associates in Occupational Studies (Administrative Professional) program. It is a 15 month program, but with my college and work experience I should be able to transfer and test out of about 4 1/2 months worth of classes, which translates to being completed by the end of this year!!!! I am SO excited, and right & left I see God providing something I need to make this all work. I was able to make a proposal for a partial payment on a school bill in exchange for my transcript, even though they don't usually release transcripts with money owed to them! All this excitement has brought to mind the song from Jeremiah 29:13, 'If You Search With All Your Heart' by Craig Courtney.
When you seek me, you shall find me, if you search with all your heart
when you seek me, you shall find me, if you search with all your heart
For I know the plans I have for you, plans of wealth and not of evil
For I know the plans I have for you, plans of hope and a future
I will bring you out of bondage, to the land I have prepared
I will bring you out of bondage, I will bring you home to me
For I know the plans I have for you, plans of wealth and not of evil
For I know the plans I have for you, plans of hope and a future
I hope this post has been an encouragement to you, as I have been encouraged in just recalling the whole situation!!

Day 27: Why Did You Do This 30 Day Challenge?
Mainly I did this to give me something to post on my blog, because I was in a rut. Nothing was really happening in my life, and I just didn't really know what to say. I enjoyed the variety of things to write about, and I hoped you enjoyed reading and maybe learning some about me! I am thinking of doing another one, maybe in a couple of months. If you think that would me fun, let me know in a comment, or send me a message!

Day 26: What Do You Think About Your Friends?
I feel very blessed to have the friends I have. They encourage me when I'm down & pray for me, they build me up, they challenge me... I am thankful for the circumstances I've been in, for without them, I would not have made the friends I have today! As Paul said in Phil. 1:4 "I thank my God upon every remembrance of you."

Day 25: What would be found in your school bag/backpack?
Obviously, I would have the things I need for school: books, paper, pencils/pens, highlighters, etc. I usually carry tissues and other things like that that I might have need of throughout the day. I like to carry small snacks, like granola or nutragrain bars or fruit snacks...in case I get hungry, a bottle of water too. Depending where I am attending school, I carry an umbrella and maybe a sweater/sweatshirt in case it gets cold, or if the day started out cold...I think that's about it...How about you? If you want to share things you might carry in your bag or backpack for school or work, leave a comment!!!

Day 24: A Letter to Your Parents
In an earlier post, I shared a letter that I had written to a lady that was mentoring me throughout last semester at Northland. Here is the letter I wrote to my mom for the same class:
Dear
Mom
You
may not realize how much of an impact you have had on me over the years. When I
think of how you influenced me when I was little, I think of the love and
training you gave me; that first batch of muffins with a little too much baking
powder, the attempts to teach me to sew, even the constant guidance as I went
through Girl Scouts being taught to be independent in the growing feministic
society. I will be eternally grateful for the time spent teaching me to be a
wife and mother, but in addition to that, teaching me to be a godly woman.
Thinking back over the years, as I
grew into womanhood, you became more my friend and mentor-mom than the disciplinarian-mom
trying to teach me right from wrong. As I became an adult, you watched as I
made decisions on my own, guided me as I sought advice. You didn’t get angry at
me if I asked for advice and didn’t take it, but you persistently and
unceasingly prayed for me throughout every stage of life. I see your
transparency with me, how you showed me from God’s word what to do in different
circumstances. You taught me to go to scripture for The Perfect example, rather
than looking to someone who, because of their humanity, would be less than
perfect, and in turn showed me humility by your admission to not being a
perfect example. When I would come home from school in tears because my
‘friends’ hadn’t treated me the way I thought they should have, you showed me
how to value the friendship I had in my brothers, and in the One who would
NEVER forsake me.
Looking back over the last five years, I
see how God has taken what I have watched you exemplify and made it reality in
my life as well. I remember being ‘jealous’ of you because of all the things
God was providing for you. I had heard story after story of how God had
provided thousands of dollars for other college students, why wasn’t he doing
that for me? What I didn’t see, was that God was providing for me in other
ways, ways that I wouldn’t have understood at the time. I see now, how God put
people (my mother, among others) in my life; to demonstrate to me a life of
dependence in Him, as Corrie Ten Boom said ‘to prepare me for the future that
only He can see.’ My prayer is that I can be an encouragement to you as I live
my life, knowing that you were a tool used in the building of my spiritual
foundation. I will be eternally grateful to God for placing me in your arms 24
years ago. As Paul says in Romans to the Christians that he ‘longed’ to see
them ‘that (he) may impart unto (them) some spiritual gift… That is, that I may
be comforted together with you by the mutual faith both of you and me…’ (Romans
1:11-12; ESV)
Thank you Mom, for all you’ve been in my
life and in turn, in the lives of my future husband and children if God so chooses
to bless me with them. I love you more than mere words can say on paper.
Your
Loving Daughter Always,
I am SO blessed to have a loving, godly mother, and so happy that God gave me to her!!!

Day 23: Something you have cravings for often
5 years ago I would have argued with anyone who told me I would be a coffee addict now!! Today, I would have to say I am more addicted to coffee than even chocolate!! I know, what is wrong with me, right? I still LOVE chocolate, don't get me wrong, but coffee is definitely up there right along with it. If if the coffee has chocolate in it, it is that much better!!! So yes, chocolate is something I crave too! :D For all you chocolate, and coffee lovers out there, Put “eat chocolate”/"Drink Coffee" at the top of your list of things to do today. That way, at least you’ll get one thing done. ;)

Day 22: What Makes You Different From Everyone Else
I am a child of God. That makes me different, simply because God created me for a different purpose than he created you. 1Co 15:39 "All flesh is not the same flesh: but there is one kind of flesh of men, another flesh of beasts, another of fishes, and another of birds." Other than that, I don't really have anything to say that would make me different from everyone else!! :) A friend of mine posted the words to a Patch the Pirate song that I would like to share with you.
I'm Special to Jesus
by: Patch the Pirate
Chorus:
I'm special to Jesus there's no one else like me
I wouldn't trade places with anyone else
I'm special you see
God has prepared a task
He wants me to do
I'm special, I'm special to my Lord
Jesus laid down His life to die for me
When I was lost in sins dark night
Though I did not deserve this gift so free
Each child is special in God's sight
(Chorus)
I may be rich, I may be very poor
Still I am special just the same
Christ hears each knock I make on heaven's door
He hears each time I call His name
(Chorus)

Plans/Dreams/Goals You Have
Right now my biggest dream/goal is to finish college. I say it's a dream, 'cause it seems to be getting further & further away the more schooling I get, lol!! I am planning on attending a local community college/university in the fall, if everything works out financially, and will be majoring in Office Administration. My plan is to get a two year degree, I have been in school for 2 1/2 years already, and just want to be DONE!!! I would like to marry & have a family eventually, if God so chooses to bring the right person into my life. So far, it hasn't happened!

Button Necklace/Bracelet/Earring Set
Day 17: Someone (Past or Present) You Would Want to Switch Lives With For One Day, and Why
If I could switch places with anyone I wanted, I would probably go back to Colonial or Civil War times. Not because times were supposedly better, 'cause they weren't, but because I have always thought it would be interesting to live the way they lived, wear their clothes, experience being a woman in a time when 'being a woman' wasn't looked down on by the majority. Women were proud of who they were!!! People would probably say that the Women's Liberation made women be seen as real people, but I believe it made a lot of changes that weren't all that great. Yes, men & women were created equally, but there are only so many things that women can do, that they were created to do. We need to leave the rest to the men because it's their job, designated by God!

Day 13: A Letter to Someone Who Has Been An Inspiration To You
As soon as I saw what today's post was supposed to be, I thought of a letter I wrote for a class at school. It was Biblical Womanhood, and I was supposed to write a letter to a godly woman who has impacted my life positively, and made my worldview what it is today. The first letter I wrote was to my Mom, and the second one I wrote was to a lady that was mentoring me throughout the semester. I didn't know her very well at the beginning, but as the semester went on she came to mean a lot to me. Here is the letter I wrote to her:
After an incredible Thanksgiving break, and a lot of reflection on the
many blessings God has given me, I have been reminded what a blessing you have
been in my life. I am very thankful that it was recommended that I begin
meeting with you for godly counsel and mentoring. I have considered myself to
have a ‘second mom’ in several different places that I have been away from
home, and I hope it doesn’t bother you, but I feel as if I have another ‘second
mom’ in you. Although in the beginning I didn’t know you very well, you made it
easy to really open up and talk; to really share the burdens I had and the
struggles I was going through.
Not only do I appreciate
the comfortable atmosphere you created while talking with you, but I also
appreciate the tone you set before every conversation. Opening our conversations
in prayer is not something I would have thought of, but it got my own thoughts
re-routed and caused me to begin thinking on truth from the beginning. I would
realize sometimes, before I even shared what was going on in my life, how God
was using that circumstance to make me more like Him. Even when I couldn’t see what
God was doing, the tone you set would remind me that I needed to take my burden
to the One who had the answers I needed, rather than trying to answer my
questions from human knowledge.
I know that there are
going to be struggles as I take the next step in my life, but I also have great
confidence that you will be praying for me even from 1500 miles away. I count
it a blessing that God put you in my path as an encouragement and a reminder to
always look to him in difficult circumstances. I pray that God will put you in
the path of another young woman who needs a ‘mother’s’ T.L.C., and that they
will be as blessed as I have been. You have truly been a model of godly
womanhood in my life!!
Sincerely,
Day 12: How You Found Out about Blogger and Why You Made One
I keep getting behind, AHHHH!!! This week has been CRAZY, I'm working on making some cookies for an exchange at my church's Secret Prayer Pal Party. Since I'm going to be home for a while again, I decided I'd join again! :D The party is tonight & I have a couple more types of cookies I'm going to make for my 'gift', I will be SO happy when they are all done!!! :P
So, I believe I found out about Blogger from my Sister-in-Law, Faith. She started a blog on Wordpress, and I was getting ready to go to Japan, so decided that I would like to start a blog. I asked Faith for her opinion on blogging sights, since she had one I though maybe she would have done some research. I really like other Google applications, so decided to go with Blogger!!

Day 8: Short Term Goals for This Month; Day 9: What is Something You've Been Proud of in the Last Few Days
Sorry I didn't post for yesterday, it being Sunday it was a little crazy, and I didn't have the time to make a post. So my goal for this month is basically, simply to get a job. I hope to have a job at the end of the month, I feel very confident that I am where/doing what God wants me to do, and knowing that, I know that God will provide what I need. (aka. a job, a car, etc.)
Something I've been proud of in the last few days, is having completed a crocheting project I started on New Year's Eve. I was SO excited to get it finished!!! Now I just have to get it in the mail to a friend for her birthday. Her birthday is TODAY!!!! AAAAAAHHHHH!!! Well, it's the thought that counts...If you are reading this...(you know who you are ;)...) I love you, and I'm sorry you're gift is late!!! <3 I will get it in the mail as soon as possible, hopefully today!

Anyway, So a picture of someone/something that has had the biggest impact on me...I'm going to share several pics. P.S. These are NOT in order of importance, it was as I came across a picture that I liked that shared my thoughts.

Day 4: A Habit You Wish You Didn't Have
A habit I wish I didn't have is my lack of communication when friends or I move away. When I was 12 my family moved from MN to CO, and my best friend & I kind of lost touch. That was over 12 years ago now, I had the opportunity last spring to be in Minneapolis for Spring Break, and I got to go see her though!!! With the decision made to not return to Northland this next semester, I would like to change this and actually keep in touch with my friends from school. Having facebook helps a LOT, but I still don't really TALK to them, just make a comment periodically...My goal for this year, is to send notes of encouragement periodically to friends to let them know that I'm thinking of them & praying for them.

Day 2: The Meaning Behind Your Blog Name
I just recently changed the name of my blog from 'Loving God with All Your Heart' to 'Prisms for the Master's Use' because I felt it fit better with the purpose I had for my blog. I originally set up the blog to keep family & friends updated on the goings on of my trip to Japan that I took in the summer of 2011, when I returned to the States I wanted to continue blogging, just had to change some things. I feel that, as a Christian, I main goal should be to reflect the light of Christ to those around me; to show His love to others through my life. A prism reflects and refracts light and we see a rainbow. Through my blog, I want others to see a 'rainbow'; see how God has blessed and encouraged me, and in turn be a blessing and encouragement to you.
